Community Projects
By design, BrickFest is a community project. LEGO fans from all over the world bring their unique creations to share with each others and to contribute to an overall amazing display of building styles, topics, techniques and creative use of elements. The event is organized by community members, for community members to celebrate and provide opportunities for everyone to share their interests.
Although the event is a community project there are several group projects that will be listed here. There are also numerous contests proposed by fans for fans and some of those contests will result in coordinated group displays.
- Great Ball Contraption: To provide Technic & Mindstorms builders the same cooperative building opportunity that's available to Moonbase, Castle, and Town/Train builders at BrickFest, we present to you: The Great Ball Contraption. You can sign up here to participate!
- Bring a Castle or Pirate MOC: Build and bring whatever style castle you like, or if you would like to participate in one of the organized categories, check out the announcement on LUGNET or build a section according to the classic castle standard.
- Community Train Layout: Individuals and train clubs are invited to participate in the town/train layout. To register your train or town building, fill out an MOC card. Or if you want to populate a large area of the layout, send an email to Dave VinZant (legotrains at gmail dot com) or to Ben Fleskes (benfleskes at hotmail dot com).
- Project Moonbase: Help us colonize the Moon by building your own Moonbase Module. Read the specifications here and discuss your ideas on Classic-Space Forums.
- Classic Space Fly-In: This year in Portland we will be bringing every single stock Lego space set together in one gigantic display. You can participate by signing up to bring some of your sets to this incredible display!
- Build Sururbia" A new standard for suburban houses is being tried this year at BrickFest. Check Lugnet for all the details on the specifications. Build to the specs and your suburban house that will fit right into the neighborhood - McMansion or Bungalow - your choice!
Want to contribute to an ongoing community-wide project? More and more groups are setting up "module" specifications to create, bring, and share during gatherings like BrickFest. If you have one you'd like to promote, let us know! More events will be announced as we get closer to BrickFest!
